Position: Regional Assistant Superintendent
Division: Instructional Services

Position Description:
The Regional Assistant Superintendent will provide strategic leadership to specified districts within the region. The role focuses on partnering with school principals to sharpen their focus on teaching, learning and classroom observation. The goal is to help principals transition from operational managers into primary instructional leaders to raise student outcomes.
Job Qualifications:
Education/Certification
* Master's degree
* Superintendent Certification
Experience:
* Minimum of three years of experience in a senior district leadership role
* Previous experience supervising and coaching campus principals
* Previous experience with state accountability and assessments
* Previous experience in analyzing data to improve student achievement
Special Knowledge/Skills:
* Exceptional active listening, constructive feedback delivery, and change management capabilities
* Ability to lead a team of individuals with diverse needs and perspectives
* Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders
* Strong long-term planning and project management skills, including establishing outcomes, determining milestones and tracking progress
* Outstanding interpersonal, teamwork, and management skills
* Excellent organization, coordination, and time management skills
Essential Duties:
* Collaborate with the district superintendent to align coaching goals with the local district improvement plan.
* Collaborate with other ESC support systems working within the district.
* Review Turnaround Plans and discuss fidelity of implementation with campus principals.
* Conduct regular, reflective coaching sessions with principals to review their time management, goal setting, and problem of practice.
* Accompany principals into classrooms to calibrate observation skills, evaluate lesson rigor, and practice giving actionable feedback to teachers.
* Guide principals in analyzing school-wide student achievement and observation data to set clear, measurable instructional priorities.
* Help administrators design distributed leadership models, such as instructional leadership teams, to share ownership of academic goals.
* Model, observe and debrief how principals facilitate teacher planning sessions and collaborative team meetings.
* Communicate with the District Superintendent on a weekly basis.
* Share progress towards the goal of this initiative with the ESC Executive Team monthly.
* Achieve certification for ESF/EDF Diagnostics.
* Attend training in Researched Based Instructional Strategies for Reading and Math.

This may require you to be available by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with Service Center or district personnel.
