PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Pre-Service Alternative (P-ALT) Program Coordinator provides strategic leadership and oversight for the new (P-ALT) Teacher Certification Pathway at Region 5 ESC (IMPACT SETX). This position is responsible for the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of the P-ALT program in partnership with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Center for Transforming Alternative Preparation Pathways (CTAPP). The Coordinator ensures program compliance with all grant requirements, supports candidate recruitment and success, oversees district partnerships, and leads efforts to establish a high-quality, sustainable alternative certification pathway designed to increase the educator workforce in Southeast Texas.
The P-ALT Program Coordinator serves as the primary liaison among Region 5 ESC leadership, CTAPP, TEA, district partners, and program stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
*Education: Master’s degree
*Valid Texas educator certification
*Minimum of five years of experience in education.
*Experience leading educational initiatives or programs.
*Strong project management and organizational skills.
*Experience facilitating professional learning.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
*Experience in educator preparation programs.
*Knowledge of TEA certification requirements and educator preparation program accountability systems.
*Experience managing grants and budgets.
*Experience working with school district leaders and educational partners.
*Experience in candidate coaching, mentoring, or instructional leadership.
*Experience as a campus/district administrator
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Leadership and Management
*Provide leadership for the design, implementation, and sustainability of the P-ALT certification pathway.
*Develop and implement strategic plans and timelines aligned with TEA grant deliverables.
*Monitor program performance measures and candidate outcomes.
*Ensure fidelity of implementation of all P-ALT program components.
*Coordinate and facilitate regular planning and implementation meetings.
Grant Management and Compliance
*Oversee all grant activities and ensure compliance with TEA grant requirements.
*Maintain required documentation and reports related to grant deliverables and expenditures.
*Collaborate with the Region 5 ESC business office to monitor grant budgets and expenditures.
*Prepare and submit required reports and data requests to TEA and CTAPP.
*Monitor timelines and benchmarks established by TEA and CTAPP.
Partnership Development
*Develop and maintain strong partnerships with school districts and educational stakeholders.
*Serve as the primary point of contact for CTAPP and TEA regarding program implementation.
*Collaborate with district leaders to support candidate placement and mentoring opportunities.
*Facilitate communication among program partners and stakeholders.
Candidate Recruitment and Support
*Lead candidate recruitment efforts for the P-ALT certification pathway.
*Coordinate candidate selection and admissions processes.
*Monitor candidate progress, completion rates, certification outcomes, and retention data.
*Ensure candidates receive appropriate instructional and coaching supports throughout the program.
Program Development and Quality Assurance
*Collaborate with CTAPP to implement evidence-based practices in educator preparation.
*Review and revise program policies and procedures as needed.
*Monitor candidate performance data to inform continuous program improvement.
*Develop systems to ensure program quality and compliance with TEA standards.
*Establish procedures for collecting and analyzing program data.
Professional Learning and Stakeholder Engagement
*Plan and facilitate professional development opportunities for candidates, mentors, and district partners.
*Present program information to district leaders and other stakeholders.
*Represent Region 5 ESC at state and regional meetings related to educator preparation.
*Participate in CTAPP communities of practice and required training.
WORKING CONDITIONS (Physical Demands/Environmental Factors/ Mental Demands):
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
*Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting, frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting, and standing

*Maintain confidentiality
*Multi-tasking with multiple deadlines with irregular hours on occasion
*Travel required
