POSITION: Program Coordinator PG 7 - ESC Mentorship Fellow - Masters Degree
POSITION: Program Specialist PG 6 - ESC Mentorship Fellow - Bachelors Degree
LOCATION: Edison Plaza, 350 Pine St., Ste. 500, Beaumont, Texas
STARTING SALARY RANGE: Contingent upon experience and skills
LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: Full time/231 days

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Texas Mentorship Training (TMT) program exists to deliver cost-effective, high-quality training and job-embedded support to district and Educator Preparation Program (EPP) staff supporting pre-service and beginning teachers through mentorship. The program’s primary goals are to increase beginning teacher effectiveness and retention. The ESC Mentorship Fellow will be trained on and eventually lead implementation of TEA’s Texas Mentorship Training for their Educational Service Centers (ESC). This role includes attending all TMT training, providing feedback on the design and delivery of the TMT content, redelivering the training while receiving coaching support from contractor, and marketing the TMT to districts and EPPs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
* Minimum of five years of classroom teacher experience with valid teacher certification
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
* mentorship roles or leading mentorship programs on a campus or district* working with pre and early-service teachers
* Texas Instructional Leadership (TIL)
* High Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM), Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS), and/or Strong Foundations
* Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs)
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
ESC Fellows must demonstrate;
1. A readiness to take on the role, which may include skills in: - instructional leadership; - change management; - project management; - communication; and - research, planning, and applying learning.
2. The ability to navigate new work by:- maintaining composure in stressful situations; - employing strategic decision-making - utilizing organizational skills to design & implement progress-tracking systems; - creating clarity where ambiguity exists; - an openness to adapting services & working to local contexts; and - a growth mindset & orientation towards continuous improvement.
3. Skills for engaging with feedback including:- a willingness and interest in providing feedback on Texas Mentorship Training design and delivery; - facilitating effective observation & coaching cycles; - diplomacy in receiving feedback; and - ability to reflect and act on feedback.
4. Presentation and facilitation skills including:- session planning and preparation; - understanding of adult learning practices; - monitoring and adjusting facilitation based on feedback.
5. A focus on continuous improvement through:- identifying data sources and systems for data collection; - analyzing data to determine trends & root causes; and - presenting recommendations for shifts/upgrades 6. The ability to build strong relationships by:- exhibiting customer service values; - using strategies for building rapport; - understanding the types of relationships and interactions in this role.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Participate in TEA orientation and all TMT trainings and any other trainings required by TEA (travel to trainings is required).
2. Create an ESC TMT business model for the TMT to operationalize LEA support and maintain sustainability.
3. Build relationships with LEAs & EPPs to invest them in the TMT vision, recruit them to the right TMT pathways and assist them through coaching and implementation support.
4. Redeliver TMT through a Trainer Trainers (ToT) model and receive coaching from contractor and TEA on redelivery.
WORKING CONDITIONS (Physical Demands/Environmental Factors/ Mental Demands):
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
* Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting, frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting, and standing
* Work cooperatively with a wide range of programs and personalities
* Maintain confidentiality* Multi-tasking with multiple deadlines with irregular hours on occasion
* Travel required
* Regular attendance is expected and required* Performs other duties as assigned
