Position:  Program Coordinator 
Reports to: Director of Special Education 
Location: Edison Plaza, 350 Pine St., Ste. 500, Beaumont, Texas
Salary: Pay Grade 7

Primary Purpose:
The mission of the Special Education Department of Region 5 Education Service Center is to provide professional development and technical assistance to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and other entities within the Region 5 area according to needs assessments and TEA recommendations in order to meet the individual needs of students with disabilities.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Master’s Degree Required
Special Education Certification 

Special Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations specific to special education with an emphasis on:
Secondary Transition/SPP-13 & TSDS-SPPI-14 
Parent Involvement/Family Engagement
Multi-Tiered Systems of Support SB IEP PLAAFPS and Goals
Behavior and systems of support 
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention-CPI
Career and Technology Education

Major Responsibilities:
Fulfill all state-wide leadership networks and/or group requirements.
Conduct a comprehensive regional needs assessment to inform technical assistance and professional development planning
Maintain awareness of new and innovative programs by attending local, regional, state and/or national trainings and act as a facilitator of information to LEAs.
Provide professional development and technical assistance as the first point of contact for LEA stakeholders in the area of special education and related services by responding to requests for information as well as helping them locate resources to meet the needs of their students with disabilities.

Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals 
Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting, frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting, and standing 
Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking, repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching, occasional driving 
Environment: Must be physically able to work inside; tolerate frequent district wide travel and statewide travel; regular exposure to noise 

Mental Demands: 
Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion, multi-tasking with multiple deadlines 
Travel will be required in and out of region
Regular attendance is an essential function 
Performs other duties as assigned
